Smokey and the Bandit is a film about two truck drivers, Bandit and Cledus, who agree to transport Coors beer from Texas to Atlanta in less than 28 hours – which is illegal. The Burdettes’ offer to most truck drivers in the past has been unsuccessful as many got caught along the way.

Cledus drives the truck with the beer while Bandit drives the Pontiac Trans Am to block police attention. On their second run, Carrie, a runaway bride, stops Bandit and boards the car. This prompts Sheriff Buford, the groom’s father, to pursue him to get Carrie back.
